The Position This position is part of Global Risk team covering market, credit, operational and other risks. The team is located Moscow, Zug, London, Hong Kong, and Frankfurt. This role reports to Deputy Head of Risk Moscow/Head of Credit risk. This role will provide Credit Risk support to agricultural and, potentially, other commodity businesses at VTB Capital, covering credit risks across the whole chain – starting from sourcing from local Russian producers to aggregating the product and selling to international traders. Key Responsibilities Performing credit risk reviews of counter-parties engaged in trading chains (commodities producers, owners of storage facilities, and warehouses, transportation firms, traders, etc.) Review and sign off on purchasing agricultural and other commodity products from Russian producers from credit risk perspective Work closely with the traders to understand trade strategies and communicate risk impact of potential new trades on positions and key risk metrics. Work closely with Accounting and IT to ensure trades are accurately captured and processed through the risk systems. Work closely with the traders and the New Product team to map and implement new instruments, products or portfolios. Capable of leveraging skills to provide backup coverage to risk team as needed. Produce and maintain credit risk procedures tailored for Russian agriculture business. Key Competencies & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Math, Finance, Economics or Accounting Good understanding of Russian Agricultural Market and associated risks (operational, credit, market) is a must. At least 5 year of work experience in managing commodity risks in relation to physical trading. Strong credit risk skills Knowledge of financial products would be desirable Strong analytical and problem solving skills to drive innovation and improvements in efficiencies. Ability to recognize not just transaction-associated risks as well as current grasp and enforcement of risk policies, but also awareness of legal, compliance and reputational aspects of transactions Ability to prioritize work effectively and communicate those priorities to stakeholders. The candidate will demonstrate ability to operate in a fast moving dynamic organization, whilst maintaining balance between the business expansion requirements and prudent risk management Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and perform under pressure. Highly motivated; willing to put in extra effort to get the job done. Independent decision maker with ability to support and defend conclusions Good interpersonal and relationship building skills allowing one to effectively work with Traders, Accounting, IT and management. Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts concisely while tailoring the level of detail for audience at hand. Perfect fluency in oral and written English and Russian is essential Typical Decisions taken by Job Holder Independent assessment of an obligor’s credit worthiness and credit limit recommendation. Early warning signs monitoring, building broad relationships with counterparties, and being pro-active in risk management in general. Close oversight of Russian Agricultural Market from risk point of view.
