Senior Java Developer (remote contract) WowApp is a fully funded start-up technology company. The company was founded in 2010 with main office in Bucharest, Romania, having 200+ employes for today with distributed remote development team across the world. About the project: WowApp is the next generation network allowing members to earn money and share it with the world by doing good and donating to charities. This business model opens a possibility to resist income inequality which becomes worse every year. This is the place where each small contribution matters, adding up to the common goal. About your role: you will get a chance to play the key role in developing a highly-distributed product based on cutting edge technologies such as Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch and Spark, taking deep dive into functional programming with Java 8 and even Scala. We are looking for remote Java Backend geeks with end-to-end product development experience, who will be building revolutionary sharing platform and ready to learn fast always being in the technological avant-garde of Java development. We consider as an honor to meet and talk in more details with you, if you're matching most of this: At least 5 years of professional Java software development experience Strong knowledge of Java 8 language and core libraries Good understanding and interest in functional programming Experience with designing and building robust REST APIs and integrating third-party APIs Great agile and team-player skills Experience with automated and manual refactoring Advanced Linux shell skills Good written and spoken English We'll be truly impressed, if you have: Strong knowledge of NoSQL Experience in Scala programming Experience with microservices, Docker and continuous delivery As a WowApp Senior Java developer you will be involved in a number of activities, such as: Explore and implement latest technologies and frameworks, while following full product cycle of every feature from analyzing requirements, to production deployment Lead and deliver high scale projects end to end with own designed and written clean code Write unit and integration tests in the collaboration with QA automation team Be responsible for monitoring integration and smooth production operation Carry out a number of experiments, investigating system behavior, studying new technologies and exploring data Take an active part in evolving the development process through retrospectives.
