ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Advanced Solutions Center (ASCENT) builds unique companies through an evolutionary methodology that create breakthrough technologies? The innovative approach enables ASCENT to originate and foster the continuous development of science-intensive ventures. One of ASCENT spin-off startups has developed a machine learning algorithm that generates drug-like molecules against specific protein targets. The uniqueness of the algorithm is the ability to generate de novo molecules without training datasets, thereby increasing the scaffold diversity within the generated molecules. Based on its unique algorithm, the startup aims to discover and study new drug-like molecules with high therapeutic properties against several biological targets. JOB DESCRIPTION The company is looking for a result oriented, enthusiastic and highly motivated computational chemist who will lead the company's internal chemistry projects and work closely with multidisciplinary team members in order to improve the chemistry part of machine learning algorithms as well as to facilitate the drug discovery process. The company is headquartered in Yerevan (Armenia). The relocation package is provided. The successful candidate will: Identify and develop scientific strategies to support companies goals. Promote and evaluate new computational chemistry techniques for drug discovery. Assist in molecules synthesis process with designing the synthesis routes by using computational tools. Work independently (under minimal supervision) and make decisions that require developing new options to solve complex problems. Provide formal/informal mentoring. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry. 3+ years’ post graduate experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academia applying various methods of cheminformatics to drug discovery projects. Strong experience with cheminformatics tools and data analytics techniques. Strong experience in scientific programming or scripting languages, particularly Python. Must be self-motivated, have exceptional communication skills, and have a strong grasp of theoretical chemistry concepts. Additional Skills Experience in machine learning approaches. Experience with cloud computing environments like AWS, Azure etc.
