Beat Technology specializes in streaming solutions for audiobook and e-book market, and is now looking to hire more developers. The company delivers technology behind the Norwegian audiobook streaming service Fabel . The company is also involved in music streaming by running three such services in Asia. We are now growing internationally, with new audiobook services launching in the coming months. We are therefore looking for experienced frontend developers. Backend team is normally based at our office in Bergen, Norway, while the others work remotely in Norway and in Russia. Outside of the backend team, we have mobile developers based in Ukraine, as well as management located in Norway. We have some additional personnel in Oslo, Norway and London, UK. Technology and Tools Nearly everyone on the team uses Linux -- from Ubuntu to NixOS -- at work and the majority also privately. The positions are therefore well suited if you wish to work in such an environment -- though you will still be warmly accepted without extensive Linux experience. The different components we produce are written using different languages and frameworks, depending on what makes sense in the individual case. We use Scala, Python 3, Rust, PHP, Elixir, React, Marionette and Lua. This list can grow or shrink in the future, something you can influence. Turning to company-wide tools, we use Git and Gitlab internally, Jira externally and Slack for daily communication. Tasks We are looking for experienced people who can be part of the frontend team on an equal footing with ourselves. The frontend team today has ownership of a few different domains. During the application process we will judge where you would best fit in, and listen to what you are most interested in. We are responsible for the following domains: Designing, building and maintaining of web player app Presentation of metadata to the end-users Playback of audio and e-books Reporting to rights holders Automation of test routines Managing editorial collections Expanding to the new web-based platforms such as Smart TVs Beyond this, we strive to include the following across all components: Test coverage, test-driven development and Continuous Integration Keeping technical debt low Scalability Reusability While some of our components already do these things right, there are others that do not. You are especially interesting to us if you have a proven record of reaching these goals. Qualifications and Personal Characteristics We are looking for you if you can demonstrate experience with: Scalable platform development Streaming technologies for audio or video Technology for e-books Test-driven development Reusable UX components We further wish that you: Have higher education in computer science, computer engineering or similar, with a masters degree or higher. Collaborate well Have good analytical skills Are clear about problems and challenges, and able to say "no" Have very good communication skills in English, in writing and verbally You do not need to match every qualification and characteristic to apply, but the more the better.
