Vacancy announcement: Director of MDIS Tashkent Tourism Innovation and Co-Learning Center JOB SUMMARY: The Director serves as the senior leadership position responsible for successful creation and success of the Innovative educational center in the sphere of tourism "Uzbekistan Travel and Tourism Innovation Center" at the MDIST. The Director will manage and be responsible for three divisions: - Business platform to support innovative projects; - Development and implementation of innovative methods of educational programs for the training, retraining and advanced training of personnel; - Research and Analytical Activities. The Director will be responsible for creating, developing and maintaining an innovative culture within the Center. In addition, the Director will pursue local, statewide, and national relationships with technology innovators, business partners, entrepreneurs, faculty, students and funders to support the goals of the Innovation Center. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: 1. Creating short and long term Strategic plan for Innovation Center; 2. Developing reporting for Board of Directors if applicable; 3. Creating a business platform for the accumulation and selection of innovative projects; 4. Promoting the introduction of innovative projects in the field of tourism and related industries; 5. Attracting potential investors, identifying their needs, analyzing market potential, providing services for the development and recommendation of new tourism products, and modifying existing ones based on market demands; 6. Managing the activities of three divisions and the Expert Group (research, tourism courses and business platform); 7. Serving as a Director of the Innovation Center both internally and to the external community; 8. Developing goals and metrics of Innovation Center in alignment with the vision, mission, and institutional strategic priorities; 9. Creating, overseeing, and leading the development of innovation and entrepreneurship projects; 10. Providing leadership, oversight, and direction for all aspects of the Innovation Center including staffing, budgeting, service delivery, and programming; 11. Working in collaboration with various key stakeholders including subject matter experts, employees, faculty, potential investors, businesspersons, and key public and private partners to determine priorities of projects. 12. Developing a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, innovation, entrepreneurship, and excellence in providing value-added services. 13. Performing other job-related duties as assigned. 1. ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS: 2. Education: Graduate degree, PhD preferred. 3. Licensure / Certifications: none 4. Work experience: Minimum of three (3) years of leadership in administration, teaching, tourism, business development, partnerships, marketing, research or strategy roles. - Leading research projects. -Successful experience in building relationships with a variety of partners, funders, and the broader business community with a customer and research focused orientation. -Must possess the agility to operate in a dynamic environment and making strong judgment calls based on the information and alternatives available, leaning on internal and external subject matter experts when needed. -Demonstrated experience introducing new and innovative technologies or services that enable improved business performance. -Proven strategic thought leadership and demonstrated experience influencing innovation and change. -Strong record and accomplishment of successful project management experience and individual performance in a data driven environment. -Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex issues and effectively disseminate to a broad population. -Strong facilitation, persuasion and influence, decision making, and conflict resolution skills. -Excellent leadership, relationship management, and project management skills, with record of accomplishment of success line business results, metrics, and learnings. -Evidence of strong planning, problem solving, and interpersonal skills to develop and facilitate collaborative working relationships including those with senior-level leadership. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1. Demonstrated ability to operate an integrated innovation center focused on ideation, innovation, technology, and on-site business accelerator programs to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem. 2. Relevant tourism, entrepreneurial, innovation, or retail experience. 3. Experience working with start-up companies. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OF THE POSITION: The role will be located in the Innovation Center in MDIS Tashkent. Some travel is required to attend events/conferences, explore strategic partnerships, as well as to aid in the delivery of proof of concept work.
