Big Data Architect (Relocation to the USA) About us : Grid Dynamics is a technology consulting and professional services company focused on delivering large scale mission-critical distributed applications with modern open source technologies and processes. We are experts in NoSQL, BigData, in-memory data grids, distributed caches, message processing, and other technologies that help implement enterprise applications at scale. BigData platforms that we build handle petabytes of data and process hundreds of thousands of events per second and run in public clouds and private data centres. Although technology is our focus and main tool, we use it to achieve business value and improve business metrics, which is our ultimate goal. Grid Dynamics is looking for Big Data Architects to relocate to the US and lead large technology programs onsite. They will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture of the data platform including infrastructure, integrations, security, and data governance. Responsibilities: Big Data Architect is expected to: Understand client business domain and business use cases for the big data including machine learning, business intelligence, and analytics; Analyse of data sources, ingress and egress pipelines for both batch and stream data; Investigate of current data platform implementation and gaps; Create of long-term architecture according to industry and company best practices; Plan phases of client journey towards the final architecture state; Lead the engineering team through the implementation; Provide technical governance and sign off on engineering team deliverables. A Big Data Architect works with all levels of client personnel from C*-level executives to individual engineers. Internally, a big data architect guides Grid Dynamics delivery team and ensures compliance of the implementation with the architecture. While spending most time at a client, the architect also participates in internal Grid Dynamics activities. These activities include training, knowledge sharing, technology pre-sales, creation of blueprints and case studies, and participation in outbound thought leadership activities, like writing blogs and attending conferences. Requirements: To be successful in the role, a Big Data Architect needs to be highly motivated in achieving high business value with technology. Besides technical skills, the candidate should: Enjoy analysing and solving problems; Be ready to take responsibility and deliver on the promise; Don’t shy away from speaking and engaging with people; Be able to communicate ideas in a clear and engaging way; Be resourceful and creative in solving problems; Understand tactics and strategy in decision making; Be able to explain complex concepts in understandable terms. The candidate should have background and education in computer science, math, or physics. Skills in strategy games like chess, poker, or Starcraft is a plus. From a technology perspective, we require 3+ years experience with Hadoop-based big data platforms and Hadoop ecosystem technologies. The candidate also should be able to demonstrate experience with: All aspects of data platforms including data ingress, both batch and stream data processing, analytics, visualisation and dashboards, operational storage for business insights, security, and data governance; Distributed applications, specifically high-performance computing, in-memory data grids and complex event processing; Cloud infrastructure, preferably public clouds; Test automation, preferably with respect to BigData platforms; CICD process and infrastructure, preferably related to BigData development; Basics of machine learning. For legal reasons, you will need to work in the country of hiring for a certain period of time before permanent relocation. During this time, you will participate in pre-sales and delivery of ongoing projects for training and onboarding. You may also participate in temporary US assignments that would require business trips.
