Title: Manager Internal Audit Department: Internal Audit Duty Station: Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic Reports to: Director of Internal Audit Deadline: April 02, 2024 UCA Background: The University of Central Asia (UCA) was founded in 2000 as a private, not for profit, secular university through an International Treaty signed by the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and His Highness the Aga Khan; ratified by their respective parliaments, and registered with the United Nations. The Presidents are the Patrons of the University and His Highness is the Chancellor. UCA’s mission is to promote the social and economic development of Central Asia, particularly its mountain communities, by offering an internationally recognised standard of higher education, and enabling the peoples of the region to preserve their rich cultural heritage as assets for the future. UCA brings with it the broader commitment and partnership of the Aga Khan Development Network. JOB SUMMARY The role of the Manager of Internal Audit is to oversee and lead the internal audit activities within the organization. The Manager plans, coordinates, and executes audit assignments to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, operational processes, and financial reporting. The Manager ensures compliance with the Internal Audit Charter, International Internal Audit Standards, and organizational policies. Additionally, the Manager provides guidance and supervision to the internal audit team. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Uphold Internal Audit Department Charter. - Collaborate on strategic audit plans. - Develop Annual Audit Plan and objectives. - Manage audit team, including recruitment and allocation. - Execute special projects assigned by Director. - Present findings and updates to Director. - Participate in audit planning, defining objectives. - Develop risk assessment and testing strategies. - Supervise audit execution and control testing. - Review working papers for documentation. - Draft accurate internal audit reports. - Attend closing meetings, finalize reports. - Engage in follow-up assignments. - Oversee team allocation and competency. - Provide training and on-the-job guidance. - Contribute to professional development plans. - Assist in staff appraisals and growth discussions. REQUIREMENTS - Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. - Past experience in internal audit within a Higher Education environment is desirable. - Professional certification: ACCA/ CA/ CIMA, CIA, and CRMA. - Territorial qualification: Masters Degree within a relevant field. - Language: Excellent command over written and spoken English.
