Role purpose Lead of all operations, processes and seed production activities including field production and tolling in the geography. Drive business, productivity, quality and HSE performance improvements. Responsible for the efficiency of the operations provided in accordance with the defined objectives, standards of functional governance and compliance with internal, external standards and legislation. Implement, develop and manage internal and external seed production organization to deliver planned amount of seed, within requested quality standard, at the due time and within appropriate budget. Ensure that the capital investment plans are consistent with the business development strategy as well as new products and that the introduction of new technologies drive solid return on investment. Successfully drive human resources agenda, through succession planning, capability development, organizational engagement and solid performance drive, while maintaining a strong focus on ethics and compliance. Accountabilities Full accountability on production reliability, cost and quality to reach local target within the Regional plan and strategies Manage and develop all dedicated teams and people within seed production organization. Responsible for performance evaluation, development, training, engagement & recognition of the workforce. Action both performance issues and exceptional performances. Owns the workforce planning, hiring process of permanent and seasonal employees; do the required administrations in the relevant systems. Works with external service providers. Deploy and optimize end-to-end seed production processes leveraging existing internal resources and / or developing adequate contracted capacity network and organizations. Lead expansion projects and optimization of local capacity within regional investment and long term growth strategies Support regional planning, Seeds production research and quality improvement activities Coordinate local field, plant, quality testing and logistic activities Accountable to comply with all Syngenta Policies, Standards, Codes of Practices and Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) Guidelines. Accountable to keep local seed production activities in full respect of local and international regulatory and legislation Maintain an excellent working relationship with Country and Functional Leadership Teams Act as a role model of the continuous improvement of the function; apply right the Operational Excellence (OpEx) tools. Measure & manage performance by KPIs. Takes part of Plant annual budget development and regularly follows-up actual financial performance versus budget. Drive value creation by cooperating with relevant functions such as Product quality, Quality Assurance, HSE, Scheduling, Process Engineering, Logistics etc. Accountable and responsible to drive quality management systems and a right first-time quality culture, for the products made by subcontractors, field and plant production teams and to ensure appropriate investigations and corrective measures are implemented in case of non-conformities Responsible to drive continuous improvement within the site, by driving a robust and constant project pipeline of Productivity Initiatives aimed at optimizing resources and costs, both in field and plant Set an example for team members and the organization, role-modelling a clear understanding that the organization’s profits and performance are reflected in all its activities, with commitment towards resource optimization, waste reduction, process compliance and work ethics Ensure IP (Intellectual Property) and physical product security (parent seeds, semi-finished and finished goods, non-seeds materials) Knowledge, experience & capabilities Agronomy/Engineering/Business Administration degree Good product / process knowledge. Effective management skills, including negotiating skills and management development skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to influence and motivate all levels of employee and external partners. Sets ambitious strategic goals Leads change and holds ambiguity Develops people, organization, and self Collaborates across boundaries English language fluent level
