Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is looking for a qualified professional to fill the position of a Junior Technical Specialist (Full time, 100%) in Chervonohrad in the upcoming decade, unprofitable state-owned coal mines will be seizing its operations. This poses major social and economic challenges for the coal regions. The structural change needed to overcome them, based on the concepts of Just Transition and Green Recovery, can provide new impetus for the development and growth in the affected regions, and beyond. Decarbonization of the economy also makes a significant contribution to Ukraine's ability to raise its level of ambition in the context of global climate protection. The aim of the project "Support for Structural Change in Ukrainian Coal Regions" is to ensure that Ukraine carries out the structural change associated with the coal phase-out in a socially and economically compatible and ecologically sustainable manner, with the involvement of civil society, using appropriate funding instruments in accordance with the concepts of Just Transition and Green Recovery. This position requires Ukraine-wide travels, in case necessary, under a business as usual scenario (i.e. when travel restrictions are lifted). Areas of responsibilities: Support Head of the regional project office and project team in the implementation of all technical support activities relating to regional development and pilot project implementation in the field of structural change in coal regions/ just transition Support in compiling, verifying, collating of data and information related to projects’ operations Working in close cooperation with Advisor on Regional development and project team working for the field of action: Pilot Projects / Support to regional, local institutions in coal regions Draft Terms of References for organizational issues and supervises accurate implementation Draft Terms of References for consulting contracts on trainings, workshops and research Contribute to the organization of operational planning and other coordination sessions of the team Put together an overview of the regional project office activities, deadlines etc. and presents this regularly at team meetings Assist in organization, implementation, documentation, communication and follow-up of workshops, trainings, stakeholder consultations and other events (offline, online, hybrid), international exchange formats and field visits of international delegations Support the project team in monitoring project activities, knowledge management and document management for DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules, keep track of forthcoming meetings and events and autonomously monitor and address open tasks and deadlines for these events Assist with PR work for the project regional office Support a project database, namely database of the regional project office Manage national and international missions of experts as well as knowledge-exchange Advise the partners in the framework of the project Represent the interest of the GIZ-assisted measure and always acts on its behalf Perform other duties and tasks at the request Required qualifications, experience and competences: BA in Business Administration, Management, Communications, Linguistics, Economic, other degree in an area that is related to the project objectives, with a focus on a relevant field At least 1 years of experience, including through internships, in the sphere of sustainable development, energy and climate policy, event management or international cooperation Preferably experience or at least interest for the topics in the fields of energy transition, coal and extracting industries, coal regions in Ukraine and other European countries Preferably experience with working in international organizations, primarily in the international development cooperation sector Fluency in Ukrainian/ Russian; English intermediate; German knowledge should be aspired if not yet existent Excellent and proactive communicator with a service-oriented attitude Excellent organization skills Good working knowledge of MS Office package and digital conference tools Curiosity and creativity in inventing new exchange formats Excellent written and verbal communication skills in an international context Ability to accomplish projects on own responsibility within a team Reliability, confidentiality, flexibility and stress resistance Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work Ability to work with international partners and manage cross/cultural communications Ability to prioritize tasks independently with possible time constraints and workload Ability to get well on with others and be a team player High level of integrity behavior Customer and service-oriented attitude Ability to make new and useful ideas work, improve performance and satisfaction Employment conditions: Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Chervonohrad. The contract duration is 3 years, starting in October 2021.
